18th October 2019, 8.45am – 3.00pm
This is the next in a series of successful School Art Network meetings to which all staff within Kirklees schools are welcome; those who are Arts specialists, as well as anyone interested in infusing the arts into their teaching as a stimulus for children’s learning across the curriculum.
The School Arts Network day brings together practitioners from the early years to KS3. Together, they are able to explore new art techniques and ideas of how to introduce them into their teaching; both to extend children’s own artistic skills, as well as to support their understandings across the curriculum as a whole. This exciting day will take place in two of Huddersfield’s most important cultural heritage venues: Lawrence Batley Theatre and the Huddersfield Art Gallery. Against the backdrop of such rich arts and cultural creativity, participants will be given the opportunity to attend a range of workshops, delivered by artists from two different disciplines.
Places can be booked on Kirklees Business Solutions website or by telephoning Delrose Benjamin or Val Flintoff on: 01484 414708 Places are free to schools who have purchased the Kirklees School Network package. (Please note that lunch will not be provided on the day)
The morning at LBT will be dedicated to drama and performing arts, with CHOL Theatre, Expressive Explorers and the Children’s Art School delivering practical workshops, whilst the afternoon at the Art Gallery will focus on visual arts and textiles, with Upcycle Fashion on the agenda to engage attendees in learning how to use creative sewing to develop life-long clothing.
